Carlos
Alvarez
Secretary - Treasurer
A Senior Vice President, Metro Bank
of Houston, Texas, Carlos is an experienced commercial banker
who has a keen knowledge of the East End and its residents. A
financier with over 20 years' experience in Hispanic/Latino business
markets, Carlos has made invaluable contributions to the CDC.
On the Board since 1990, he currently serves as Secretary - Treasurer.
Mr. Alvarez is also active with the East End Chamber of Commerce
and his presence in the community makes possible many CRA lending
opportunities through Metro Bank.
A
native of Mexico City, he received his B.A. degree from The National
University of Mexico. He came to the U.S. in 1976 and received
his MBA from Texas Southern University. He and his wife Maria
and his son, Carlos, live in the Clear Lake area.

Carmen
Orta
An experienced business woman in the communications
industry, she is also very active in the Hispanic community through
her affiliations with community-based non-profit organizations,
especially the Houston Minority Business Council. She is also
a Past Chair of the AAMA, Inc. Board. Over 25 years ago, she formed
her own company, American Communications Systems (ACS), which
is now a family run corporation.
A
native Houstonian, Mrs. Orta's business roots were set in childhood
from her father's entrepreneurial spirit as sole proprietor in
the furniture and grocery businesses. In these areas she quickly
learned how to do business with a diverse clientele through marketing,
sales, inventory, and in developing assets. She is very active
in the public sector and in community affairs, currently serving
a new appointment to the Houston Metro Board of Directors and
she was formerly on the Board of the Houston Housing Authority.
In addition to the AAMA-CDC she also serves as Board member of
La Rosa, Inc., and has developed strong linkages with corporate
Houston through the American Leadership Forum and the East End
Chamber of Commerce.

Mary
Margaret Hansen
President and CEO of the East End Management
District, Ms. Hansen is very familiar with economic development
issues in the Greater East End of Houston. She brings a unique
knowledge to the CDC, especially in our agency's empowerment initiatives
in the Harrisburg-Wayside areas. She is an enthusiastic support
of development in the East End, especially as a stimulant to greater
capital formation in this part of Houston.
She
currently resides in the Idyllwood neighborhood of the East End.
She was previously CEO of the East End Chamber of Commerce, which
she led and helped enhance for over 10 years. She is a graduate
of Cornell University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree.
Active in the community for many years, Ms. Hansen has served
on the Gulfgate TIRZ Board and took part in Class VII of the American
Leadership Forum. She is a member of St. Phillip Presbyterian
Church.

Scott
Hunsaker
Legal
Counsel
Scott Hunsaker has been
Legal Counsel to the AAMA-CDC since 1992. He is a Partner in the
distinguished firm Locke, Liddell & Sapp, and his experience,
in real estate and corporate transactions involves many aspects
of the development field. This knowledge and experience has helped
strengthen of our CDCs ability to undertake major development
projects that benefit the community.
A practicing attorney since
1977, Scott Hunsaker received his Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum
Laude, that same year from the University Of Texas Law School.
He received a B. A. degree, also Magna Cum Laude, from Texas Tech
University in 1974. Scott Hunsaker holds several professional
affiliations, among them: Member of the Houston Bar and State
of Texas Bar Associations, Director , Texas Association of Bank
Counsel, Member, Council of Real Estate Section of the Houston
Bar.
A native of El Paso, Texas
he is involved in several civic activities. In addition to his
work with AAMA-CDC these include: General Counsel Houston
Hispanic Chamber, Board of Directors The Curtis and Doris
Hankamer Foundation, and Legal Counsel The Santos Foundation
For Education Initiatives.

Bill
Garcia
Board Advisor - Realty Brokerage Services
Vice President of Carlo Garcia Realty, Mr.
Garcia handles real estate brokerage services for the AAMA-CDC.
His 30 years experience in commercial and residential realty areas,
acquired primarily in Houston's East End, gives him a working knowledge
of development issues and real estate needs throughout the neighborhood.
From this unique insight he brings a bottom-line perspective to
the CDC's real estate transactions and development initiatives.
A native
Houstonian Mr. Garcia has long been active in the East End, having
served on several boards including: the East End Chamber of Commerce,
the Community Advisory Board of Laredo National Bank, the Magnolia
Merchants Association, the City of Houston's Convention Center
Hotel Advisory Group, and numerous others. He also serves on the
board of St. Augustine Catholic School and is Founding Chairman
of the Bishop Fiorenza Fund.
